About me

Getting to know me and what to expect...

   Hi there!

I'm Jennifer Edling; wife, mother, friend, photographer, chocolate lover and sometimes blogger. I got my first camera as a Christmas present from my grandparents when I was 7 years old and I've had a camera near by me ever since. I have always loved taking pictures, but it wasn't until I had my own children that I really appreciated the value of photography. Hands down, my favorite pictures are the pictures I've taken of my children being, well... children. For me, there's nothing like a picture of a child picking flowers, a toddler exploring the sand beneath his toes with Mommy or a four year old running from Daddy (a.k.a. "The Tickle Monster"). That's why when it comes to my style of photography, I really try to avoid those dread words, "Say Cheese!". It's been my experience that they only unlock cheesy grins and toddlers who want to look the other way. There will naturally be some casual posing, but my goal is to keep the atmosphere light and fun. Having five small kids myself, I know that once a kid's attitude about the shoot has gone south, you've lost them for good.  I want to help them have fun so we have some honest to goodness belly laugh smiles to decorate your home with!

Teens and adults are obviously much more co-operative and here's where we can get a little creative. If you have a pose or idea you'd like to try, please let me know.  I want the picture to show the excitement and love an engaged couple has for each other, the silliness between teen sisters, the gentleness between a father and his grown son, the determination of the High School Senior or the lifetime worth of love and friendship between a couple celebrating their golden anniversary.

Not every person is the same; that's why I like to talk to my client before hand so we can pick the perfect location (if you want one) and props that suit that individual (or family's) personality.  Whether you have every idea about how you would like the portrait to look or you haven't the slightest clue what you want, we can talk about it and work out the perfect shoot for you. After all, at the end of the day, the thing that matters most is that you LOVE your pictures.

As always, the time I have with you is your time. You will NEVER be rushed through your session because I have another engagement.

I look forward to working with you!!
